If an ASSESS-VIDEO telehealth assessment has been recommended for you, our friendly medical specialists will treat you with the same high level of care and consideration.
Our aim is to make you feel as comfortable and at ease as possible – before, during and after your appointment.
Recently, many of us have become more familiar with video conferencing technology. A telehealth consultation uses this technology to connect a person requiring an independent medical examination with an appropriate medical specialist or allied health consultant, without them needing to be in the same physical location.
A telehealth consultation is just like a normal, in-person assessment only you will be seeing, hearing and speaking with the ASSESS medical specialist or allied health consultant via a digital video and audio link provided by our team.
Occasionally, other parties may also participate for part or all of the telehealth consultation.

A telehealth consultation can be conducted at any location that is suitably set up for video-conferencing and has access to:
You may be assessed at one of our normal ASSESS Medical Group consulting rooms located throughout Australia or at home in a private and well-lit room.
Similarly, ASSESS’ medical specialist or allied health consultant can be located at one of our consulting rooms, in their private rooms at their practice, or at their home. Guidance and support will be provided by our team to ensure a successful connection and consultation.
ASSESS-VIDEO can be delivered across platforms such as BlueJeans or Zoom, depending on your video enabled device and local internet connectivity.
You will be sent an appointment confirmation which will contain the following information:
At least 15 minutes prior to your appointment start time, click on the web-based link contained in your appointment confirmation. This will also give you and the ASSESS team time to test the technology.
Sometimes an independent medical examination via video conference cannot proceed due to unexpected technical difficulties before or during the assessment. Where this occurs, you will be contacted by ASSESS or the medical specialist/allied health consultant to advise whether the appointment can proceed or be completed, or whether it needs to be rescheduled to another date and time.
The same privacy and confidentiality requirements that apply to in-person assessments also apply to telehealth assessments. You cannot make a recording of the telehealth consultation.
